This project is a long-term controlled experiment on forest restoration methods and outcomes in MillionTreesNYC restoration sites in parks across NYC’s five boroughs. Stormwater runoff control is one of the many functions of these forested areas.The study assesses how the interactions between soil heterogeneity, plant population dynamics, and forest restoration management strategies drive urban forest ecosystem structure and functioning. The project is a partnership with MillionTreesNYC, NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, and the New York Restoration Project.
